John Denver hates us, Paul Simon called us a name, and Neil Diamond thinks we're gay! Clearly we are the most persecuted people on the planet! -

Welcome C Lynne,
I got you. With the anger fresh, you want to just turn it on them. but there is only so far you can go that it is beneficial to you. I went after one of the enders that removed me....hard. In the end he was a CO at one time and getting him removed wasn't going to happen. But......I got to embarrass the crap out of him and make him look like the fool he was. That was good enough for me. :)
Also a guy like this will do way more damage to the congregation staying an elder than being removed.
I say if you are up for it, send a letter. if you have the money, have your lawyer draw up the letter. But be prepared for a stone wall. Honestly, if you get it, what do you expect would happen? They call you an apostate, say you are a slut, and that they think you might even believe in evolution!! So what. What then.
I FULLY understand wanting your pound of flesh. Get it. But just don't postpone your life over it.
Once again welcome.

As a young man I knew several. My mother always wanted me associating with the creme of the crop. But because of my youth I am sure I didn't get the real person. A couple I knew and felt were good people in and out.
My first experience witht he nuttier side of these people is when in a hall I was visiting a woman gave me strict counsel to break up with my black girlfriend so that our being out in the ministry together would not detract from the message. that she was anointed and I should listen to her.
My girlfriend was fine, and a great person (still a JW), so I passed on her racist advise. But yeah.....that was an eye opener.

Welcome TS.
I'm not that old.....but I'm older than you. Being free of mind at 24.....is a dream. Continue to research and above all, be honest with yourself. This is a good place because it isn't about who you disagree with or don't disagree with, its about your personal journey and the ability to feel and think differently than everyone else, and still communicate and interact.
I had a conversation with a former JW friend who was essentially a born again Christian after she left, and I myself am agnostic at best. We discussed the flood, some other things, and we clearly disagreed. But it was just a conversation. I commented on how refreshing it was to be able to disagree....AND be friends.
How amazing to think you can't even have an open honest discussion with people you care about.
Learn how to live life, be honest with yourself, and if you must be reinstated for the sake of family, plan your exit congruently.

my purpose was to discuss problems with the creation book with him, since he is its main author.

I found this very interesting, and I had never read it before.
I wonder many times what happened to some of "apostate heavies" if you will. Maybe its just gotten to be too much. So many great contributors here of course, but it seems to leave something to be desired at times. I feel like I missed out because I was still in in the first decade of the new millenium.

Any Letterman Fans
by berrygerry innot many shows left.. was a fan from his nbc days when he had a lot of innovation.. no question, he has a quick mind, which to me, is a key to comedy.. a distinct memory was awakening my poor pre-teen daughter when dave was back on the air after his heart surgery.. no matter what, is a changing of the guard (if only the wt could do the same)..

Interesting Pew Stats on JWs--Alarming Trends for the Borg
by Cadellin insomeone may have linked to this already, but the this interactive page in the pew religion study is pretty interesting, especially when you look at the trends for jw between 2007 and 2014. here's what it shows:.
jws are increasingly non-white.
in fact, the percentage of white jws has decreased from 2007 to 2014 by 12%, while hispanic jws have increased by 8%.

There is quite a bit of data to mine, but I found one thing interesting.
They asked "Christian" religions if they identified as evangelical or born again. JW's said no 3/4 of the time. I'm just thinking about the JW on the phones head exploding when they heard the question, thinking about what the right answer is to a fundamental part of their faith.
Also the lack of retention reflects what it did in the 2007 survey.

One day you will be able to tell the story.....and be free of the pain. Many more than you know the things you know, but simply choose to stick around because its easier on some level for them.
You took a principled stand. Good for you.
What part of the world are you from?
And....welcome!

I had sex with my wife but now he’s my brother.
by John Aquila ingolden age 1930 apr 2 p.446.
question: will husband and wife live together after the resurrection is completed, if both are in harmony with god?.
the most that we know is that here will be no children born during the last 100 years of the millinnium (isa.
